Position: Product Manager

Location: Mountain View, CA

Churchill Downs, Inc. the
leading public company in the US thoroughbred horse racing industry, is looking for a Product Manager to drive the roadmap planning for a cutting-edge rich internet application that delivers live streaming video together with context sensitive data.  This position will be required to work with assorted engineering teams, vendors, and various other groups to lead the ongoing development of an online Flash/Flex-based platform. Up to 20% travel may be required due to geographically distributed teams.  The position is based in Mountain View, CA on Castro Street.

Primary Responsibilities:

Build a deep understanding of customer needs and maintain a good knowledge of any relevant competitive offerings Use customer insight to establish actionable business and product requirements Become the internal expert and primary advocate for the application within the organization Develop the technical roadmap, strategic positioning and competitive analysis for the product Define and document detailed product specifications, requirements, test plans and procedures Review and evaluate new technologies and opportunities Work cooperatively with assorted groups (management, engineering, marketing, vendors, etc.) Communicate and work with team members to establish and maintain schedules and timelines

Qualifications:

College degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Marketing or equivalent, from an accredited university MBA preferred, but not required 3+  years Product Management experience (preferably with an online media company)

Strong technical background, knowledge, or experience.

Experience with Adobes Flash technology preferred. Alternatively, experience with Microsofts Silverlight technology desirable.

Strong oral and written communication skills to work with many internal and external groups Strong analytic and problem solving skills Strong attention to detail, an ability to meet deadlines, and an ability to independently prioritize work.
