Job: Sun System Admins Needed in Chicago ASAP

Location: Northbrook, Illinois
Description:
Customer is looking for two to three candidates that are assertive
and can provide coaching. These consultants will help customer avoid
gottchas during their application migrations for about a 3-4 month
period. The position description is deep, so see what your
recruiters can come up with. Per Customer, they need:
- Team of experts
- Reasonable pricing
- really actively engaged
- 2-3 people full time for the next several months
- if there is a lull would like the people to establish how we make
this happen going forward (new process and procedure for how they
onboard new hw)
- looking for folks who are familiar with the hardware
- know how to closely work with app owners who may or may not be
experts in their apps to determine how things are going to perform.
Responsilbities:
- Testing, standardization, and certification of new hardware and
software releases in accordance with standard lifecycles and release
management
- Developing and testing standard UNIX offerings for use within the
enterprise for both hardware, software and applications
- Project management skills, the ability to determine and define
project requirements and translate requirements into real business
solutions through ITIL best practices, industry best practices
utilizing cutting edge technologies.
- Be able to design and develop shell scripts and have working
knowledge of advanced OS commands, kernel structure and advanced
troubleshooting with DTrace. A Minimum of 3 years commercial OS
administration and a minimum of 5 years of OS trouble-shooting and
support experience.
Customer environment:
Sun hardware running Solaris 9, 10; zones, containers, and LDOMS Sun
SPARC and x86 hardware (15k, 25k, v445, t2000, t5220, t5240, x4600,
m5000, m9000, Sun Blade 6000, x6250,v490/v890,M3000) AIX, HPUX, and
Red hat Linux experience is a plus
Skill set:
- Strong UNIX Systems administrator with Solaris 8,9,10 experience.
- End to end UNIX system design
- Datacenter migration experience
- Solaris 10 zones and containers
- Assist with Jumpstart/WANboot new features and design
- Sun Cluster
- DTrace knowledge
- Solaris RBAC
- Open source support
- Sun Cluster
- Tiered storage
- Thin provisioning both server and storage related
- Advanced Pearl and korn shell scripting
- Grid Technologies
- UNIX print services
- Assist with LDOM development
- Sun server ZFS and ZFS boot
- Apache expertise a plus
- Oracle 10G+ knowledge is a plus
- In depth knowledge of mpxio and xvdmp. Intermediate Level for all
categories
- VCS (Veritas Cluster Server)
- VXFS (Veritas File System)
- VXVM (Veritas Volume Manager)
- VVR (Veritas Volume Replicator)
- CFS (Veritas Cluster File System)
- Veritas Netbackup
Computer Proficiency (computer applications skills needed to do the
job):
Solaris, AIX, Windows, Oracle, Netbackup, Tibco, IBM WebSphere, Ab-
initio, SAP, Java, shell and kernel programming, Microsoft Office
