Position: Sr. Network Engineer

Our client in FREMONT, CA is looking for a 3PAR is seeking a very motivated, detail-oriented Sr. Network Engineer for its global network environment.  The Sr. Network Engineer’s role is to plan, organize and support overall network infrastructure operations to ensure the stable operation of our Cisco centric - environment.  This will also include helping implement all enterprise network projects around the globe.

This is a CONTRACT opportunity for 3 months with possible extension.

The position requirements include:

Design, deploy and maintain mission-critical network infrastructure in support of all Network Operations

Manage all network infrastructures, including our firewalls, routers, switches and load balancers.

Maximize network reliability by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, collaborating with vendor support on network optimization

Handles escalations from internal customers and business departments.

Provide 24×7 on-call support and escalation to network carriers.

Perform analysis and advanced troubleshooting to identify, isolate and resolve all network related problems including all networking issues associated with deployed VoIP.

Perform scheduled maintenance, back-ups and repair or replacement of equipment

Perform post-mortems on network incidents and issues, document processes and procedures as well as the network environment.

Work with the IT Helpdesk to troubleshoot end user issues as they relate to the IT Network

Miscellaneous other duties and responsibilities as may be requested or required by management.

Experience & Skills:

5-7 years experience as a leading contributor and network engineer

Experience in supporting mission critical 24×7 network services

Strong Cisco experience: load balancers, ASA firewalls, 65xx switches and 28xx- routers

Good understanding of BGP in practice, as well as other routing protocols (OSPF/EIGRP/RIP)

Very strong L2/switching experience and troubleshooting skills: (production LAN design, fully versed in networking concepts such as STP/RSTP/MSTP/PVST, ARP, VTP, QOS)

Network security skills should include fluency with common network admin and intrusion detection tools such as Snort, MRTG, Nagios, Ethereal/Wireshark, Nmap, Nessus, etc.

Excellent LAN/WAN troubleshooting skills.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work with employees and customers at all skill levels; including the ability to translate and communicate technical and analytical issues to all types of end users.

Ability to work under considerable pressure managing multiple tasks and priorities

Motivated self-starter personality; must be able to work independently

Strong interpersonal, leadership, and team communications skills are essential; must be able to clearly document processes, policies, and procedures in a timely basis.
