Corporate Systems Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and close business opportunities with high client satisfaction.
- Deliver product overview and technical presentations to customers at a whiteboard, by phone, or via a web conference.
- Work closely with customers to understand and resolve their technical challenges, build technical rapport, and assume role of trusted advisor.
- Demonstrate your domain knowledge by suggesting/designing solutions for challenges customers face in scaling their infrastructure.
- Identify new opportunities within the client environment beyond the initial sale.
- Identify, filter, prioritize, track and communicate customer issues to resolution.
- Create and evolve product demonstrations that highlight product value and benefits.
- Provide product requirement feedback into marketing and engineering functions.
- Provide leadership in the development and execution of pre- and post-sales support processes and training.
Qualifications:
- Deep domain expertise in enterprise or web data center environments for database, storage, virtualization, or server technologies.
- 5+ years in technical selling/Systems Engineer role doing installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup/restore and application development.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or other technical discipline.
- Strong presentation, written communication and selling skills.
- Possess key interpersonal skills including: cross-functional leadership, ability to operate independently, results-driven and clear customer orientation.
Desirable:
- Domain expertise in large web-scale infrastructure, including the LAMP stack.
- Proficient in SQL (programming, architecture, concepts) and hands-on administration of relational database systems such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL.
- Database scaling or application integration using sharding and partitioning methods.
- Programming or scripting experience in C++, Python, Perl and Shell.
- Familiarity with Linux (RedHat, SuSE, Debian) or VMware.
- Experience selling appliance solutions in start-up environments.
