Position: Sr. Systems / Network Engineer job at Reston, VA

Job Description:
Position Summary: Provide analytical, planning and problem solving support for all data center operations and future initiatives. Install, configure and maintain Linux servers along with network and peripheral equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Assure data center operations meet all service levels and security standards set forth
- Analyze and plan for growth and administrative / cost improvements
- Install, configure and maintain Linux servers and networking equipment
- Serve as an escalation point for NOC and engineering
- Rotational on-call schedule to participate in 24/7 support
- Develop and document support processes as necessary
- Manage development and QA environments
- Perform data center work and support back-up processes as needed

Experience:
6-10 years of network design and/or administration in a heterogeneous data center environment

Education:BS or equivalent
Knowledge and skills required
- Working knowledge of servers, networking hardware and configurations (Dell equipment, blade systems, rackable systems, etc.)
- Working knowledge of firewall and data security functions
- Understanding of web applications, specifically Tomcat, Weblogic and Java
- Proficiency with Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange - OWA/llS
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Basic DBA knowledge is a plus
