Position: Lead Network Engineer

Position Responsibilities - Summary:
This position is for an engineering-level candidate directly supporting the IP networking infrastructure throughout the enterprise. The successful candidate will have responsibility covering both Network Engineering and Operations.

- Team member with engineering and operational responsibilities

- Provide lead support and direction for the group

- Interface with vendor support services and sales teams.

- Ensure the delivery of network performance reports for proactive and reactive network management

- Prioritize, complete, and oversee projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.

- Provide internal analysis and support to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance

- Provide level III (advanced) support, guidance and direction for Operations outside of the core team.

- Ability to develop presentations and deliver/speak to topics in meetings to all levels of corporate management

- Complete understanding of IP-based networks for the purpose of implementation, operations and troubleshooting

- Advanced knowledge of IP routing protocols, including RIPv2, OSPF, and BGP

- Required knowledge of network product lines from Cisco Systems and Nortel Networks.

- Expert knowledge of network device management/configuration interfaces (graphical and character-based) and underlying operating systems - Cisco certifications are required.

- Responsible for implementing and supporting High-Availability environments, extensive knowledge of VRRP and HSRP required

- Responsibility for implementation and operations of IP-based load balancing environments.

- Knowledge of systems from Cisco is required

- Experience with Network Analysis tools including Sniffer and Netscout required

- Familiarity with the OPNET suite of products for network modeling and performance tuning a plus

- Experience with VPN Technology and Firewall configuration/troubleshooting required, knowledge of Cisco-based security products and services (Pix, IDS, K-9, etc.)

- Advanced knowledge for the implementation and support of Voice-over (VoIP), Quality-of-Service (QoS), and MPLS-based networks is required.

Required Skills and Competencies:
- A minimum of 5 years experience in implementing/operating IP-based networks

- On-call support required, including carrying a Cell Phone/Pager; Experience with MS Visio and the MS Office Suite of products required

- Cisco CCNP Certification required; Cisco IP telephony specialization a plus

- Security experience or Certification a plus

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience Compensation
