Position: Senior Software Research Engineer

Qualcomm is seeking an experienced researcher to lead software projects
in Bay Area.
The qualified candidate will participate in exciting research projects
in the areas of Location based Services and Mapping Technologies from
concept generation to prototype implementation.We area looking for candidates with strong experience in location based
services, mapping technologies, algorithms for routing and navigation,
or robotic vision and navigation. The candidate should have expertise in
one of the following areas.

Location based Services: Design and implementation of location based
services, future services that may be enabled by accurate positions.
Algorithms for routing and navigation, with pedestrian algorithms a plus.

Mapping Technologies: Creation and manipulation of maps. Efficient
transmission of maps over wireless links. Delivery and display in mobile
devices.

Robotic Vision and Navigation: Automated identification, parsing and
detection. Navigation using visual and/or contextual information,
simultaneous location and mapping (SLAM).

Mobile Browser Technologies: Original design of system software and
services for mobile phones. Web technologies including client browser
technologies, including rendering, javascript interpretation, security
and optimization for a variety of hardware platforms. A strong
foundation in existing browser technologies is a plus.

Overall Mobile Software Expertise: We prefer candidates with a
cross-layer understanding of system design issues for mobile devices and
networks. Knowledge in the areas of mobile software such as operating
systems and browser technologies is a plus.

The ideal candidate should have a PhD in computer science or electrical
engineering with experience in industry research. Strong publications
background in related areas of interest. Experience working with cross
functional teams with various technical and business skills is required.

Required: Doctorate, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science
