Position: EXECUTIVE COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

COMPANY:
We are looking for an EXECUTIVE COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER for our client Cisco in San Jose. This is a long-term consulting project.

DESCRIPTION:
The EXECUTIVE COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER will primarily focus on developing executive communication support for a VP Executive.  The main focus of this role will be leading development of high quality content.  The right candidate will ensure that the communication strategy is successfully executed across multiple communication channels (PR, Web, speaker forums, influencer relations, etc.) Will be a creator of content, positioning and/or strategy contributions to critical areas.  Understands services, channel business models, and/or high technology.  Cisco experience is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Development of professional and executive-level presentation materials for all speaking events, and written communications for internal and external audiences.

Create original content and extract salient information from multiple sources and synthesize information to make them relevant for target audience of Cisco executives, directors, and employees. Where messaging does not exist, drive inclusive process to develop messaging and gain approval from executive sponsors

Design and develop communication strategy and executive point of view for internal and external audiences. Viewed by executive as content development partner.

Develop day-to-day communication deliverables including but not limited to announcements, speeches, blogs and presentations briefing materials, Web feature articles, email messages, speaker’s notes, special writing assignments, newsletter, wikis, blogs, special project and event assignments in conjunction with freelance writers and internal team.

Liaison with key teams in Marketing, Marcom and Communication functions and execute across multiple programs & campaigns at a cross-functional, cross-company level, aware of best practices.

Work with appropriate stakeholders to discuss and define plans, initiate research to obtain functional & theatre perspective and find existing messages and content, and enlist & manage internal resources and external agency assistance.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrates expert PowerPoint skills and ability to translate difficult concepts graphically

Ability to turn complex ideas into stories and visual concepts easily understood by a broad audience.

Demonstrates strategic thinking, strong executive influence skills and content development skills, with the ability to communicate details of an activity and share best practices outside the organization.

Demonstrates strong organization and program management, with the ability to meet milestones, tight deadlines, and communicate status on concurrent projects.

Flexible and resilient problem solver with the ability to gain consensus among others and manage sensitive situations. Works well with peers and higher level management.

Strong interpersonal communications skills with maturity to interact comfortably with a vast spectrum of hierarchy within the function to gain consensus among others, managing sensitive situations and sensitive materials.

Self-driven, motivated, proactive, capable of understanding how various initiatives fit into a larger strategy (i.e. “connecting the dots”) and able to multi-task among multiple programs and tactics.

A keen eye to detail is a must, as well as thorough follow-through on details and action items.

Must have excellent writing and PowerPoint skills.

10+ years experience developing content and devising communication strategy at an Executive level.

BA/BS, MBA helpful and 10+ years of relevant Executive Communications, Marketing, and/or Communications experience; experience should demonstrate both strategic and tactical success.
