Job Description:
This senior product manager will be able to perform the following functions:

1. Working with product managers, engineering & members of NetApp’s Global Support organization develop and drive the delivery of a roadmap to improve the overall supportability of NetApp products. This individual will also be responsible for defining requirements, developing / recommending an execution plan, obtaining buy-in, ensuring alignment across different groups and driving execution of said plan.
2. As ASUP is a key tool for supporting NetApp products, this product manager will also be responsible for ASUP. Specifically, working with stakeholders & consumers he/she will:
- Develop a vision/roadmap for the downstream usage of ASUP
- Develop a framework for prioritizing requests
- Make recommendations on how to best leverage this capability

Essential Functions:
- Understanding of key product supportability drivers. What/how product components affect supportability and provide guidance on how to address & prioritize closing gaps
- Working with key stakeholders, develop roadmap to ensure continuous improvements in the supportability of NetApp products. Work with engineers & other product management peers to set priorities & reach agreement on implementation plans.
- Ability to identify product gaps; translate into requirements and work with engineering/peers on proposing a solution
- Socialize ideas, recommend a path forward, obtain buy-in and drive delivery
- Work with product teams on a day-to-day basis to ensure that supportability is “built into” the product day 1
- Ability to work directly with customers and partners, perform benchmarks and assess/make best practice recommendations
- Ability to work directly with front-line to executive members of NetApp’s support organization
- Interface with other functional groups to ensure that we are delivering complete solutions
- Communicate and implement product directions.
- Identify and maintain relationships with product partners
- Provide mentorship and support to more junior members in the organization

Requirements:

- Familiarity with:
- Customer deployment scenarios around clustered file systems/clustered storage configurations
- Monitoring & Diagnostic tools
- Remote diagnosis, predictive failure analysis and determining metrics to drive optimal execution
- Open source software (BSD) & the BSD community
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work both independently and lead cross functional teams.
- Ability to work with a high degree of ambiguity, set priorities & obtain buy-in from cross-functional groups
- Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization, including remote areas.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Product management experience in the technology industry.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
- Excellent understanding of NetApp’s products and services technologies/concepts.

- Marketing experience in the technology industry.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
- Excellent understanding of NetApp’s products and services technologies/concepts in a distributed environment.
Interaction:
- This individual must work effectively with Staff to Vice President level employees within the function, across functions and with external parties.
- Limited supervision is provided, as this individual can operate, drive results, and set priorities independently.
- The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor and subject matter expert.
- To be successful, this individual must demonstrate favorable results through leadership and influencing multiple individuals and groups.
- Often acts as mentor or facilitator.

Education and Experience Education & Experience:
- A minimum of 10-12 years of experience is required.
- A Bachelor of Arts of Science Degree is required, or equivalent experience, MBA preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects.
