Position Responsibilities - Summary:
The Enterprise Information Architect will play a key technical leadership
role in defining direction as well as implementing major transformational
data-related projects planned over the next 3-5 years. She/he will be
responsible for leading and engaging in information/data management projects
including the Enterprise Information Architecture, information models and
flows, data dictionaries, data standards, and data quality standards and
processes. The Enterprise Information Architect is responsible for
developing and maintaining the logical Enterprise Information Architecture
that enables seamless information interoperability of all of our systems -
from transaction systems, reporting & document management systems as well as
information delivery systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and evangelize Enterprise Information Architecture and
provide technical leadership for developing and maintaining the enterprise
information architecture.
- Identify gaps in the Corporate Information/Data Model and address
them actively in collaboration with business facing teams using a deep
understanding of financial services
- Ensure systems alignment with the information lifecycle.
- Maintain a library of the enterprise information models (i.e.,
information models, information flows, data dictionaries, etc) and
develop/enforce the change control process for the Enterprise Information
Architecture artifacts.
- Coordinate information/data changes that occur as part of new
development, maintenance and enhancements to ensure consistency with the
Corporate Information/Data Model.
- Lead the development and maintenance of information management
standards and conventions (e.g., naming standards, information architecture
gates in the IT development projects, etc).
- In collaboration with the Information Integration teams, define,
develop, maintain, and communicate information exchange standards that will
be used by downstream systems.
- Align Enterprise Information Architecture efforts with other
Enterprise Architecture/ Information Management counterparts to ensure
overall alignment of architecture components.

Keys to This Position:
1. Domain knowledge: The candidate must have a strong knowledge of the
Asset Management industry and how the business operates. Ideally the
candidate will come from another asset management firm or a vendor like a
Charles River or similar type vendor firm.
2. Technical skills: The candidate will have a focus at a Lead level in
the areas of Information/Data Architecture and Integration, Data Modeling,
Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, etc.
3. Must have strong Client Relationship and Leadership skills. This
individual will interface with the Investment Systems team and the
Investment Data team among others. Experience understanding Fixed Income,
Equities and Derivatives is important.
4. This individual will be very similar to a Lead Systems Analyst, but in
the Data Architecture space. The individual needs a deep knowledge of the
Asset Management business (i.e. Fixed Income, Equities, etc.) and the
underlying business process and the Data that facilitates the Workflow.

Required Skills and Competencies:
- Master’s degree in software or systems engineering, computer
science, information systems management or the equivalent.
- At least 10 years progressive experience in enterprise
information/data related disciplines, i.e., data modeling, architecture and
integration.
- Proven experience in developing information architectures aligned
with information lifecycle management within financial services.
- Proven experience performing conceptual, logical and physical data
modeling with data modeling tools (Erwin/ModelMart) and database design in
complex, large-scale data environments.
- Proven experience in transactional data modeling (3NF),
dimensional modeling and object oriented modeling. Proven experience in
developing scalable design of entities using advanced data structures (e.g.,
tall tables) is a plus.
- Knowledge of application modeling languages/techniques (e.g., UML,
OML, entity relationship modeling, DFDs) including the ability to create and
read the associated diagrams.
- Proven experience creating enterprise models incorporating master
and reference data.
- Experience in creation of data dictionaries, defining metadata
management approaches and governance processes.
- Experience in developing and implementing IT architecture plans,
Enterprise Information Architecture standard and guidelines, software
development methodologies and strategic plans.
- Experience in developing data sharing standards and architecting
scalable service oriented solutions.
- Solid understanding of transaction and information systems, data
warehouses, data marts, ODS, MDM methodologies and life cycle as well as ETL
and MDM technologies.
- Strong facilitation skills to engage subject matter experts to
define data requirements and conduct data modeling design reviews with
project teams.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to explain
and document the Enterprise Information Architecture to diverse audiences
(technical, business, etc).
- Highly self-directed and able to manage and prioritize multiple
concurrent and competing challenges, issues, ambiguities, and
contradictions.
