Position: Sr. Network Engineer: San Jose, CA

Location: San Jose, CA
Term: Full-time

Required Skills:
- Very strong knowledge of current networking systems including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, content-aware load-balancers, wireless networking and VoIP phone systems.
- Very strong knowledge of all IP-based protocols
- Very strong knowledge of dynamic routing protocols including OSPF and BGP
- Strong Linux skills
- Strong knowledge of Layer 4-7 load balancer fundamentals and operation
- High degree of familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts; ability to configure DNS, Unix and Windows host networking
- Familiarity with current two and three tier website architectures, including, load balancing and failover concepts for web servers, application servers, and database servers, including ecommerce and payment processing applications
- Knowledge of Cisco, Force10, Avaya, and Citrix products
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Strong written/verbal skills. This should include experience in designing, documenting and writing deliverable plans for enterprise implementations. - Visio diagramming & network documentation knowledge required.

Preferred Skills:
- Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously. The candidate may become the technical lead on short term projects. This will require experience with and a broad understanding of their implementation and coordination. May also include working in a team environment requiring vendor and contractor coordination.
- General familiarity UNIX and Windows operating systems
- Familiarity with Avaya VoIP systems
- Familiarity with cloud-based computing concepts
- Familiarity with CDN (Content Delivery Network) concepts
- Familiarity with WiFi (802.11) concepts
- Demonstrable scripting experience with PERL. There is often the need to create simple tools
- Experience with performing network functionality and security audits
- Strong understanding of security policy, procedures, architecture and standards design

Required Background:
- Essential: Experience in supporting high volume Internet sites from the edge/core to access layers, including firewall and load balancing
- Essential: Experience in interfacing with senior managers in presenting technical situation analysis and business proposals
- A minimum of five to seven years of IP-based networking experience
- BA/BS or higher in computer science or a related field or equivalent experience
- CCIE or CCNP certification highly desirable
