Position Responsibilities - Summary

My client is currently looking for an experienced software engineering manager to join their R&D group. The Manager will work in a dynamic environment focusing on the development and delivery of product for one of their key enterprise offerings. The manager will be responsible for one or more development teams and will be accountable to plan, lead and assign all activities related to the SDLC. They are looking for professionally confident candidates who enjoy a fast-paced, creative environment using latest development technologies to leverage their mature experience, communication, leadership, team work and management skills.

Reports to the Director of Development.

Keys to this position:

1. This role requires a hands-on development manager – 50/50 role – Hands on development & Management - Strong C++, COM, Web & Database Technologies in a Windows/Microsoft Centric environment. Will lead a group of 6-7 developers.

2. Current commercial software development experience needed – Ability, Attitude, & Passion to do what is necessary to deliver projects on time/budget - Healthcare Industry experience a plus.

3. Strong Database Development Experience.

Detailed Responsibilities;

· Candidate should be able to work closely with Product Development to transform marketing requirements into specifications; plan and develop the application line through its entire life-cycle.

· The candidate will be responsible for motivating and team building within the development teams.

· Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to Project Management, Resource Management, Personnel Administration and Status Reporting.

· Using prior experience the Manager will be responsible for looking at current processes and procedures in an effort to identify new areas for improvement.

· Candidate will be responsible for participating in Project Design and Technical Specification reviews, not only in area of direct team ownership but across Product Development teams.

· Candidate will be responsible for providing the development team(s) with technical guidance and leadership.

· The candidate should be a strong team player with a natural aspiration for excellence.

Required Skills and Competencies:

· Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering or relevant equivalent

· 2 to 5+ years experience in managing software development teams and/or data warehousing teams.

· Candidate must have prior experience designing and implementing advanced N-Tier systems designed for commercial use.

· Candidate must have strong C++ & COM experience - C# is a plus.

· Web Technologies experience is required

· Database technologies experience is required. MS SQL Server experience is a positive plus.

· Current experience in a software development or solutions firm.

· High energy level, passion for technology, and delivery focused.
