Open source software company in SF is seeking a Scalability Architect.
This position calls for an engineer who has designed and developed
large, fault-tolerant, highly scalable applications in a SaaS
environment to bring their experience and design skills to the team.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in all levels of the project
creation, from designing high-level components, to implementing
sharding strategies, to optimizing database access, to rendering to a
browser.
Responsibilities:
Design high-level components which interact with a large, scalable
application
Implement components in Java and other scripting languages
Analyze and tune database access
Analyze systems for ’single points of failure’ and provide
alternatives
Work closely with Project Lead to provide future direction and
roadmap for new services and features
Qualifications:
Bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science or related field
5+ years of experience in designing and implementing distributed,
scalable applications
Prior experience implementing a software as a service product
offering is a must
Experience with Hibernate, Spring, MySQL, memcache
Strong communication skills and problem solving is a must
Experience with Groovy, a plus
Experience with Hadoop, a plus
Programs via test-driven development
