Position: Client Architect
Location: Bay Area, CA

Client Architect:
Grid Dynamics is a global leader in grid consulting and engineering
services. We are a young, fast growing and profitable company headquartered
in Silicon Valley. We are expanding in the Bay Area and are looking for
exceptional Client Architects
with a passion for building and scaling applications and mission-critical
systems of “extreme” performance, scale and reliability to join our ranks.
Our staff consists of elite scientists and engineers, experts in performance
computing. Our clients, leading financial, technology, Internet,
communication and entertainment companies such as eBay or Bank of America,
rely on Grid Dynamics to architect, design, prototype, build, or tune their
business-critical grid systems. We work with the latest technologies,
platforms and tools, right on or beyond the bleeding edge of mainstream
computing. Our engineers are true experts and thought leaders, dedicated to
contributing technology and insights to the Open Source community.

Responsibilities:
- Defines architectural approach for projects, often across multiple
technology areas for large projects or program
- Works closely with Business Owner to understand and shape business and/or
functional requirements and corresponding technology solution
- Assists development team with detailed design
- Oversees all aspects of implementation of projects, usually carried by
remote engineering team
- Estimates implementation effort and required resources
- Creates proposals, presentations and white papers
- Presents proposals, presentations and white papers to senior technical and
business decision makers to win their support and influence their decisions
- Acts as trusted adviser to the customer executives
- Works closely with customer, key stakeholders and engineering teams
- Coaches and mentors junior engineers
- Helps with pre-sales and marketing events as requested by the management

Requirements:
-At least 7 years experience as a technical engineer
- Ability to define and create application, data or operations architectures
- Technical design skills and experience defining solutions across multiple
technology areas
- Ability to proactively identify issues and coordinate resolutions
- Ability to juggle work on several projects at the same time
- Able to supervise work of others and delegate tasks
- Strong programming skills with Java, C+, C++ or C# or .Net
- Knowledge of basic administration of two out of three systems:
Linux/Windows/Solaris is required
- Knowledge of high-performance computing, parallel processing, scale-out
computing, or grid computing strongly preferred
- Background in financial applications, ecommerce, or infrastructures for
high-traffic web commercial sites is a big plus
- Willing to travel up to 20% to lead client engagements and support
pre-sale activities
- Excellent communication skills: customer skills, presentations, written
white papers, conference talks
- Passion for technology and innovation. Strong desire to push the envelope,
find commercial applications of big ideas, to create breakthrough solutions
to the world’ biggest technological challenges
- Comfort in working with globally distributed teams
- Strong academic background in Sciences preferred
