Overall Responsibility:
In this key role, you will be instrumental in the development and
architecture of many of the systems- level features of newly created client
focused applications. The person will adhere to various designs supporting
internal business requirements or external customers and be responsible to
standardize the quality assurance procedure for software. This person may
oversee testing and develop fixes and may lead and direct the work of
others. The principal function of our Systems Software Developer is to apply
their knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems to write a
computer program to perform various tasks in accordance with the
specifications agreed with the client.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Establish a detailed program specification and design through
discussion with clients and staff to determine needs and timelines.
- Clarify precisely what actions the program is intended to perform,
including specific programming tasks and desired outcomes.
- Break down program specification into its simplest elements and
translates this logic into a programming language.
- Devise possible solutions to predicted problems, evaluating other
options.
- Work as part of a team, which may be established purely for a
particular project, to write a specific section of the program.
- Combine all elements of the program design and test it with thorough
testing documents.
- Testing sample data-sets to check that output from the program works
as intended.
- Reacts to problems and corrects the program as necessary.
- Help establish and hit deadlines on all work product
- Install the program and conduct final testing and deployment.
- Study computer printouts during test runs.
- Evaluate the program’s effectiveness along with Help Desk staff.
- Increase program operating efficiency and adapting to new
requirements, as necessary.
- Conduct user acceptance testing to ensure the program can be used
easily, quickly and accurately. Making changes to program based on Help Desk
interactions and issue reports.
- Receive weekly reports from Help Desk staff on any new issues or
feature sets that need development tweaking.
- Recreate steps taken by the user to locate sources of problems.
- Write detailed documentation for the operation of the program by
users and computer operators.
- Consult manuals, periodicals and technical reports to learn new ways
to develop programs and maintain existing skills and knowledge.
- Work with Director of IT to prioritize concerns and solve them
- Maintain and meet an aggressive timeline for issue resolution,
development and deployment of programming issues or new features, with an
understanding that client timelines must be met regularly for product
success.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and
development methodologies.
- Individual should be well versed and proficient in 2005/2008 SQL
and 3.5 .Net programming C#.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
- Individual has experience and judgment to plan and accomplish
goals.
Education:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Software Development or 5 years of
experience in the application development or related area.
