Position Responsibilities - Summary:

The Middleware Manager is responsible for the design, installation, and tuning of all Middleware systems, third-party software, and tools as well as responsibility for the Middleware products, stability, performance tuning in support of mission critical applications.

You will work closely with the development staffs, Platform staff, Data Communications staff and other Technical support teams. Manage a team of Middleware Administrators with technical expertise in Oracle Application Server, Websphere and other Middleware Applications.

Manage a small team of people comprised of the following: (Need to be strong technically)

- Reports Lead Middleware Systems Engineer

- Lead Middleware Project Manager

- Senior Middleware Systems Administrator

- Middleware Systems Administrator

- Web Analyst

Reports to the Director of Technical Services.

Detailed Responsibilities:

- Responsible for Team Development and Business Relations with peers in other areas of IT.

- Responsible for Team Resource Planning considering workload in the design, implementation and support of the corporate Middleware infrastructure.

- Approve technical ideas and design developed by the Lead Middleware Systems Engineers on your team.

- Manage all vendor relationships and look for ways to streamline vendor contacts and technology in the organization.

- Manage Middleware cost center and all Middleware assets in the organization.

- Oversee the installation and maintenance of all Middleware systems.

- Responsible for overall Middleware user security and administration.

- Optimize performance and manage JVM tuning for all Middleware based applications.

- Set and enforce standards for Middleware environment within the firm.

- Provide disaster recovery procedures for Sarbanes Oxley required business applications.

- Provide support to all IT development staffs.

- Recommend third-party utilities and environmental software for Middleware systems.

- Regularly review performance data for Middleware system capacity planning purposes.

- Provide the Director of Technical Services with information/status of all projects and other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Competencies:

- Requires in-depth knowledge of Middleware systems, very strong troubleshooting skills, proven project management skills, and ability to manage a staff of technicians.

- At least eight years of technical support experience, of which at least four years should be as a senior level Middleware Systems Administrator and 4 years Management experience.

- Extensive experience with Oracle Application Server, Websphere Application Server, JBoss, ITCAM, Wily.

- Extensive experience with UNIX, Windows, VMWare, Storage, and SAP systems very desirable.

- Four-year degree mandatory - A degree in Computer Science or MIS a plus. MIS or Computer Science course work at the graduate level a plus.
