Data Center Technician

The position of Data Center Technician will play a key role in keeping our multiple data center locations in premier condition to support our SAAS offering.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Perform equipment installs and moves (servers, network appliances, PDUs, etc)
- Cable machines to the network switches in a clean, traceable manner
- Maintain all cabling infrastructure including copper, fiber and power
- Maintain asset inventory in an automated computer system
- Perform all shipping and receiving duties including RMA activities
- Work with Systems Operations and Network Operations on troubleshooting and resolution of problems including hardware failures and physical connectivity problems
- Maintain CLEAN and ORDERLY premises at all times
- Replenishing supplies as needed
- Un rack and decommission equipment as necessary
- Load and unload tapes as required by System Operations procedures
- Maintain uniform equipment labeling
- Work with other groups to identify areas to enhance uptime and reduce time to resolve problems
- Assist supervisor with maintaining the data center space in most productive state possible

This position will work closely with members of groups within Operations including System Operations, Network Operations and Production Support.  Ability to communicate with technical and business operations personnel is essential.

Qualifications:

- BS in MIS or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years data center experience
- Experience with data center best practices
- Basic understanding of SAN connectivity
- Solid understanding of server (Linux and Windows) and network concepts
- Capable of lifting 40 to 50 lbs equipment and working in restricted spaces
- Able to work in a climate controlled environment for long periods of time
- Knowledge of trouble ticketing systems
- Ability to work unsupervised
