Position Responsibilities - Summary:

This position provides the opportunity for a qualified individual to manage the sustaining engineering team and processes. Specifically, this individual will manage a team staffed with software developers located on, and offshore.

The sustaining team is responsible for the following:

- Planning, implementing, and releasing product patch releases

- Providing L3 product support

- Participating in the development of content for internal product knowledge transfer

The manager of this team will function as personnel manager for the local software developers, project manager for patch release development projects, and case manager for customer cases escalated to the sustaining engineering team.

This position is unique in that it provides an individual with the ability to be very hands on with a variety of interesting and diverse technologies, while at the same time allowing the person to manage people and interact with customers.

The role of sustaining engineering manager is critically important and highly visible to the firm.

Required Skills and Competencies:

- At least 3 years experience as a team lead or manager of a software development team

- Strong knowledge of software development processes

- At least 5 years experience as a software developer prior to experience as a team lead or manager

- Experience developing or managing development teams that develop enterprise software - need to come out of a SW Vendor Environment.

- Strong project management skills. Experience building, executing, and tracking software development project plans

- Strong technical troubleshooting and software debugging skills. Ability to provide hands on technical leadership for the sustaining engineers.

- Strong oral and written communication skills - Attention to details, organized, and responsive

- Experience working directly with technical customers

- Experience working with offshore testing teams

- Experience with Agile software development techniques and processes such as SCRUM is also desirable

Technical Skills: (Must be Hands On)

- Experience with the following specific technologies is required: C++, Unix system development and debugging

- Experience with the following specific technologies is highly desirable: Java/J2EE, T-SQL, PLSQL; Databases: Oracle, MS SQL, DB2; XML, XSD, XSLT.

- BS Computer Science or related experience
