Senior Software Engineer

Job location is North of Boston, MA

Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000 + full benefits, 401(k), pre-IPO stock options

Description
In strict adherence with the Development Process, a Senior Engineer quickly and efficiently creates high quality components to work in conjunction with the solution. In conjunction with a Project Architect and/or Development Manager, the Senior Engineer specifies the functional deliverables and takes responsibility for leading the development of the software components, including working with the customer to gather requirements and understanding their workflows.

-BS or equivalent experience is necessary.

-3+ years Java development experience in a J2EE environment.

-3+ years OO development experience using Java, C++, or Smalltalk.

-Must possess excellent interpersonal style as well as superior written and oral communication skills.

-Must possess analytical and methodical troubleshooting expertise.

-Demonstrated ability to work directly with technical partners or customers in a consulting or joint development role.

-Software development skills on WIN32 platform with good knowledge of networking and remote access software.

-Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar technologies.

-Highly productive and able to design quality SW with quick turn-around time.

-Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a dynamic team environment.

-Project management skills are preferred.

-Development experience building web based applications, e.g. HTML JSP, Servlets, STRUTS, XML, ASP is an advantage.

-Willingness to travel.

Functions:
-Work as a key member of a highly productive project team leading the rapid development of high quality components that meet the customer’s requirements according to documented processes with aggressive timelines.

-Specify and design server and client side software components in conjunction with a Development Manager.

-Develop test strategies for components being developed

-Implement components using scripting (VBScript/Jscript), Java, C++ or other languages as appropriate

-Work with Quality Assurance engineers in developing functional tests for functionality being implemented

-Work with Release Engineers in developing build, installation and release scripts for developed functionality

-Work with customer support in resolving remote access difficulties and other customer issues
