Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Lead Proposals Writer/Manager, the Sr. Proposal/Technical Writer creates, develops, plans, writes and edits RFP responses and proposals, technical briefs, white papers and other marketing collateral for paper, multimedia or web-based publication. May also document engineering processes and specifications.
- Conducts interviews with various subject matter experts and technical staff to gather data as appropriate for each assignment.
- Gains a solid understanding of the bid strategy and response requirements from the account director and program manager.
- Develops the response messaging document and gains consensus on bid approach.
- Develops, plans, writes and edits RFP responses and proposals.
- Responsible for insuring that bid response are complete, and compliant, and will yield the highest possible technical scores
- Ensures completion of assigned projects and on time delivery to the customer.
- Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements.
- Produces products that conform to the company documentation, brand and quality assurance standards.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- BA/BS in Communications, Marketing or related discipline
- 6-8 years as a technical writer, including proven track record & experience writing large complex bids and proposals for international, federal & state programs
- Experience in writing and editing software products using Microsoft Office Tools, Adobe, Visio, MS Project and related tools is essential – Ability to include various graphics within proposals & documents
- Pluses: Shipley Proposal Training – Pragmatech Proposal Writing Software – Membership in APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals)
- Must have demonstrated ability to effectively interact with program and technical management staff; in addition, participate and support project team activity and objectives
- Ability to review RFP requirements, define subsequent overview of effort and timing
- Must have a flexible approach to hours of work to satisfy department objectives in a schedule-intensive environment
- Must be able to work independently and cross functionally as well as part of a team and multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
Compensation:
Competitive Base Salary - $80K - $90K+ Depending on Experience + Bonus
