Senior Java Web Engineer, Interwoven

Job Responsibilities:
We have an opening for a java developer to play a key role on our portal team, with responsibilities for our Enterprise Information Portal, our Customer Support and Reseller portal, and our corporate intranet.

The Web Programmer will work with our Portal team to drive the vision, design, and delivery of an Enterprise Information Portal solution based upon key technology strategies and business goals.

The Web Java Programmer must possess a strong technical background in Java development as well as proven skills at leveraging technology to benefit the Enterprise through sharing of best practices and working collaboratively.

This position calls for an experienced professional in presentation-layer architecture, application design standards, and infrastructure implementation upon which our portal applications are integrated and delivered.

The focus of all efforts will be to build efficient, scalable, and stable applications that meet all the functional web application needs of the business. Component based development will be the cornerstone of all systems we deliver, including building extensions of our business
systems.

The successful candidate should have the ability to quickly understand functional requirements and the ability to translate them into a sound technical design.

Essential Functions:
-Highly proficient in J2EE development.

-Responsibilities will include participating in setting strategic direction for services oriented architecture. In doing so, they will need to be able to think high level and strategically.

-Will also be expected to be hands on and write many of the services and utilities that implement the new architecture. This architecture needs to be setup to support all future applications that will run the enterprise portal and as such needs to be highly available, provide exceptional response time and be scalable to expand as the environment grows. There are several projects that will be implementing services into this environment and the web java programmer will be expected to take a lead role in these projects.

Job Specification:
Minimum Education:

-B.S. or M.S. in Math, Computer Science or a related field is strongly preferred

Minimum Experience:
-5+ years hands-on experience designing & developing high-performance, Java-based web applications.

-Core Java (5+ years experience)

-J2EE technologies (2-3 years): including JSP, Java Servlets, JDBC (esp. Oracle), EJB

-XML technologies (2-3 years): XML, XML Schema, XSLT, JAXP

-Web client technologies: HTML, DHTML/StyleSheets & JavaScript (intensive)

-Database technologies: Oracle 9i (esp. PL/SQL)

-Operating Systems: proficient in development & deployment on both UNIX, Linux, & Windows NT/XP platforms

-Web application design (including Model/View/Controller)

Knowledge:
-Architectural experience in the design of solutions that are extensible, robust and highly maintainable.

-An ability to take a wider architectural view of the product and own multiple pieces driving toward a cohesive user experience.

-Strong systems level programming skills in Java (not just application layer experience) and familiarity with J2EE technologies.

-Familiarity with Web Services frameworks.

-Communication Skills to present ideas and concepts effectively

-Ability to read and interpret documents in English.

-Strong communication and analytical skills, team player, able to work with cross-functional teams, and self-motivated.
