Start-up in Menlo Park CA backed by Seq that is building a security product is looking for a sr protocol engineer.

You will be a member of the team responsible for the development of the Protocol Analysis and Implementation framework.
Required Skills:
Requires deep knowledge of network protocols, having implemented at least one network protocols from scratch. Knowledge of protocol encoding/decoding techniques and implementing protocol state machines is required.
Knowledge of working with or reverse-engineering Windows protocol is a plus.
Examples of such Windows protocols include RPC/DCOM, CIFS/SMB, NetBIOS, Active Directory and MS Exchange related protocols.
Implementing protocol decoders or Windows protocols on non-Windows environments (such as Linux) is also a plus. Example open source efforts involving such network protocol developmen activities include Samba, Ethereal, Evolution, etc.
Implementation level knowledge of any of these is a plus. Experience developing
protocol decoding modules in the open source Ethereal plug-ins is helpful. Experience developing vulnerability signatures (based on protocol anomalies) for IDS systems is also a plus.
Knowledge of good software engineering principles with an emphasis on implementing networking sub-systems. Must be familiar with programming in C/C++ in a product environment. Job will involve design and development activities.
BS in EE/CS with 7+ years work experience, MS in EE/CS with 5+ years work experience or PhD in EE/CS with 2+ years work experience.
