We are looking for a experienced engineer with a leadership background in core search engine architecture, design, and hands-on development. Search is a high traffic, highly scaling software application central to the success of Netflix.

Be prepared to own software that supports many requests a second over hundreds of thousands of searchable genres, movies and people, including names, titles, reviews, descriptions, and any other data that makes our search outstanding. You want to lead development of strategic software and the algorithms that software implements.

Responsibilities will include:
-Designing and developing search including matching, relevance, filtering and ordering

-Full software life-cycle ownership of new and existing systems from inception through production

-Conceiving, articulating and implementing projects in coordination with technical and non-technical coworkers for product enhancement and improvement

Skill requirements:
-8 to 10 years of relevant software development experience

-Lead experience on search engine development in an environment where search is core to the success of the business

-Database background managing and exploiting large data sets with real-time requirements (Oracle a plus)

-Solid experience with multi-threaded Java application development and deployment a plus

-Background in adaptive systems or artificial intelligence a plus

-Flexibility to shift priorities based on changing needs of the business

-Enjoys technical challenges and constantly strives to improve existing systems

Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or equivalent.
