Position Responsibilities - Summary

This position is responsible for the management of the Resource Management Group within Information Services and reports to the Director, IS Business Management. A main objective of this position is to ensure the department’s vast resources are optimized and the work is planned effectively.

Keys to this position:

1. Client is looking for an individual that has strong Leadership and Change Management skills with significant experience managing a PMO in a complex organization that is similar in scope and size - Experience creating and/or managing one or more successful PMOs at other organizations of similar size to IS department (50+ Project Managers, 200+ projects/year, and 900+ total resources). This individual must be able to define a strategic direction, build consensus among senior leadership, and deliver a world-class PMO.

2. This senior-level individual will have had up-through-the-ranks experience in Project Management, PMOs, and financial planning. This position requires an individual with an excellent track-record of team and people management. Strong analytic and communication skills are also required. Demonstrated influence, leadership, and collaboration skills are paramount to the success of this individual. Finally, this person must be able to work effectively with all levels of the organization, from the project managers to the CIO.

3. This individual will also be responsible for the Talent Management function which includes Professional Development programs, Training, On Boarding, etc.

4. This candidate will have strong influencing skills and a strong background as a Project and Program manager.

Detailed Responsibilities;

· Directing the PMO. This position oversees a PMO with three analysts and two consultants, as well as a network of project managers working within specific application teams. The Manager, IS Resource Management will spend time on the PMO, portfolio and financial work. They will provide strategic direction and oversight of the PMO that will deliver the following in 2008:

- Implement a leading PPM tool and lead change management aspects

- Implement multiple changes to the process, practices, and instrumentation

- Mentor, coach, and train the department’s Project Managers.

- Develop, maintain, and evolve standards, tools, templates, and documented processes for project management within IS

- Enhance a weekly Project Review process

- Enhance the PM training program in partnership with Boston University

- Implement tools and accurate reporting to better serve the department

· Direct the Talent Management function

- Manage headcount planning

- Improve the recruiting and interviewing processes for greater hiring success

- Manage a set of employee programs such as mentoring and informational monthly forums designed to retain and develop talent

- Manage suite of training programs such as Babson, BU, in-house classes, etc

- Primary liaison to Human Resources department

- Coordinate with Sourcing and Vendor Management Office teams

· Work closely with the IS Finance Team

- Enhance the annual and rolling planning processes

- Assist in the preparation of presentations to the firm’s key committees

- Coordinate with Finance various IS planning exercises such as the annual non-payroll employee expense budget

· Manage Real Estate for 300+ employees and 600 consultants

- Manage the assignment of space and moves related to construction

- Primary liaison to corporate Real Estate group

· Coordinate the work of the major Information Services committees

Required Skills and Competencies:

· Minimum of 15 years, up-through-the-ranks project, program, general management experience in a line function within a large organization

· Experience creating and/or managing one or more successful PMOs at other organizations of similar in size - IS department (50+ Project Managers, 200+ projects/year, and 900+ total resources). This individual must be able to define a strategic direction, build consensus among senior leadership, and deliver a world-class PMO.

· Several years managing a team of resources

· A clear sense of what the word “delivery” means, both from a personal as well as an organizational level and demonstrated capability to personally deliver

· Ability to effectively deliver in a highly collaborative and matrixed environment

· A self starter with excellent verbal and written communications skills

· Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a strong plus

· Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or relevant discipline; MS-MIS or MBA preferred
