Our client company is a profitable, public company in the San Jose, California area; they need a Power Engineer; here are the details:
Responsibilities:
Candidate’s responsibilities to include: development, design and qualification of state of the art switched-mode DC/DC power supplies, intelligent battery chargers and some bulk AC/DC power converters.
The candidate should have 5 or more years experience with selection of switching power supply suitable topology for the applications, including intelligent battery charger circuits for different battery systems, application and a working knowledge of design and computer design/simulation of switching power circuits and linear and digital sub-circuits with microprocessors, power semiconductors, magnetics, control ICs and qualification, and DVT testing.
This position requires a thorough theoretical understanding of power supply topologies, feedback loop types, compensation methods and testing of frequency and time domain transfer characteristics of switching power supplies.
Requirements:
The work includes extensive interaction with our local and out of town system engineers and sub-contractors to generate power supply specifications, test plans, testing switching power supplies and evaluating test results and producing test reports.
Other skills include familiarity with automatic power supply test equipment for DVT of switching power supplies using analog & digital knowledge with the ability to design, program, evaluate and document software for automatic test equipment.
The candidate should be proficient at preparing recommendations for testing and documentation of procedures to be used from the product design phase through to initial production.
The candidate should be self motivated, be capable of operating independently, and communicate effectively cross-functionally and across multiple locations
