Perl / Web Engineers, fulltime, Palo Alto
Located in Palo Alto, our client has developed a system that brings all the news a user could need or want to one place. They have backing from the three largest newspaper companies in the US.

As part of a small development team, a Software Engineer will have the opportunity to make big contributions to the design and implementation of new features and systems. If you live and breath software and the Internet and don’t think that WORK and FUN are mutually exclusive, this could be the place for you.

We are looking for Web/Perl engineers who will work on the back end of the system, with Apache and LInux. Four or more years of commercial programming experience is necessary; especially that which has recently been we focused. Some of the interesting and challenging
problems they are looking to solve include:

crawlinggeo-localization and subject categorization of the newsnamed entity disambiguationabout vs. mention discrminationheat and tone language detectionzero-configuration scalable crawlingall in-memory index servingon the fly category merging , clustering, de-duplication and geo-spinninganti spamauto-kickstart serversreporting and tracking

Experience in these areas is not a requirement, but interest is!
