Manager, Systems Engineers

Location: Palo Alto, CA

Job Description:
The focus of this position is to manage the VMware Strategic Alliance System Engineers at each of VMware’s OEM Hardware Partners. The position is located in Palo Alto, CA.

Responsibilities:
-The Manger, OEM System Engineers is responsible for leading the efforts of the System Engineers in support of our Hardware Partners.

-Manage the OEM SE team including; hiring, compensation plans, performance reviews, team/individual goal setting and professional development.

-Track OEM hardware/software development and roadmaps.

-Affectively represent OEM Partner requirements and concerns during VMware product development and support life cycles.

-Present at both VMware and Partner speaking and tradeshow events.

-Work with the OEM Alliance SE team to ensure timely and accurate knowledge transfer of VMware’s product information, initiatives and technology to the Partners

-Drive business and technical solutions with OEM Partners.

-Track OEM Alliance SE involvement in significant Partner sales opportunities.

Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related area.

-3 - 5 years management experience with proven success building & managing a world-class systems engineering team of at least 6 people, preferably with a major server hardware vendor.

-8+ yeas experience in technology related work as a Systems Engineer or Consultant.

-Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and possess strong leadership and troubleshooting abilities.

-Strong presentation skills with the ability to address both executive and technical level audiences.

-He or she should be able to grasp and explain technologies quickly.

-The candidate must be a self-starter and possess excellent time management skills.

Technical Expertise:
-The effective individual will have strong domain experience in the x86 hardware and operating system space, including but not limited to:

-OS experience with Windows 2000/2003/XP, Linux Redhat/SuSE, Novell Netware and Solaris x86.

-x86 server hardware configuration and troubleshooting.

-Network configuration and troubleshooting.

-Storage technologies including SAN & NAS.
