Job Description:
Would you like to build a Java Swing interface and associated data transfer components for a state-of-the-art medical informatics product being developed by the Veteran’s Administration in conjunction with a leading University?

The Veteran Administration’s Center for Health Care Evaluation is seeking a Java engineer to work on the development of a Swing-based multi-threaded client-server healthcare application.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
-4-6 years of Java development experience

-Demonstrated knowledge of Swing architecture and components

-Demonstrated knowledge of multi-threaded programming

-Demonstrated ability to write clean, modular code following well-known design patterns

-Masters Degree or Ph.D

Pluses include:
-Previous software development experience for applications deployed in a clinical environment

-Knowledge or experience with Java CORBA

-Experience using Ant for Java development

-Experience using Apache Tomcat

-Knowledge of CCOW standard and/or HL7 messaging

This position is a contract position for up to one year that requires on-site work at our client in Palo Alto. Hours are flexible - we can negotiate either a part-time or a full-time assignment to compliment the schedule of the right candidate.
