Client Software Engineer - Cross Platform Development

The Client Software Engineer will develop cross-platform components for Digital Fountain’s next generation video streaming client, including streaming data pipeline, integration of Digital Fountain’s innovative forward error correction, cross-platform data management and user interface capabilities for content navigation. You will work with Product Managers, Marketing Managers, Software Developers, and Quality Engineers to define, design, and then test our the client software.

Essential Job Functions:
- Cross-platform software development in C++

- Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders throughout the company to proactively gather and understand customer, partner, and stakeholder needs and formulate system requirements and designs

- Plan and conduct user tests and then document and communicate the results.

- Work with developers, system engineers, and QA engineers throughout the product development, testing, and implementation phases.

- Work with platform specialists (Windows and Macintosh) to integrate cross-platform components and develop designs which maximize the cross-platform portion of the system

- Work on maintenance tickets affecting cross-platform client components.

- Proactively search for opportunities to increase efficiencies to our clients and supporting infrastructure.

- Conduct industry research and stay current on best practices, competitor user interface designs, and emerging technologies.

- Handle multiple project deliverables and balance multiple priorities and deadlines.

Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess 3-5 years of the following qualifications and experience:
- BSc in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a similar discipline or equivalent experience

- Proficient in C++ development and Linux/Unix APIs

- (Candidates proficient in C programming with a strong appetite and aptitude for learning C++ will be considered)

- Windows or Macintosh development experience a plus

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Technical aptitude and problem-solving skills, cooperative approach

- Cross-platform design/coding ability, ability to create and manage platform independent software.

- Embedded software development experience a plus

- Experience with digital video a plus

- Ability to innovate, prioritize and multi-task

The successful candidate will have a successful track record in end- system software development and a solid understanding of design for Software Engineering, including accommodation of Quality Engineering needs.
